What We Need
We are currently looking for a self-motivated, entry-level Linux System Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll be involved in progressively improving our existing Linux infrastructure and learning how to run an enterprise-scale private cloud.
Primary Responsibilities
The job involves the following responsibilities: Deploy and update Linux Servers & applications as needed:
• Participate in DevOps and security initiatives
• Assist with the purchase, provisioning, and deploying of data center hardware, servers, and storage infrastructure
• Continue to build our infrastructure by facilitating new technologies and upgrades
• Automate our infrastructure using configuration management tools
• Reverse engineer software/hardware configurations and improve them
• Act as a T2 SME and work directly with our clients on issues related to our platform and its connectivity

Job Qualifications
• Hands-on experience with RHEL-based or Debian-based Linux distros (e.g. Ubuntu or CentOS)
• Working knowledge of MySQL (or other equivalent transactional / RDBMS systems).
• Working knowledge of containers (Docker or equivalent). Kubernetes a plus (we use K8s!)
• Experience with virtual machines (either AWS EC2, VMware, or equivalent)
• Working knowledge of Java applications and the JVM
• Working knowledge of Git (commits, branching -- the basics)
• Basic understanding of the OSI model as it relates to network troubleshooting
• Some exposure to public cloud environments is a plus (we use AWS)
• Experience in scripting in python or bash. This isn’t a software development position, but scripting is critical to automation!
• Good documentation and communication skills
• Ability to bench press a 2U server.
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent
• Linux certifications are a plus: RHCA, RHCE, LFCS, LFCE, or equivalent
